Burgers at Aprazivel

Day four in Lisbon was the sunniest day we'd experienced so far. We went for a lovely little wander to see the Saint George castle in the morning before it got too hot, and spent the rest of the day doing a spot of shopping in the city centre and lazing about in Chiado Square Chilling with our friend Camoes. Soaking up the delicious sun and people-watching for hours on end was bliss, especially after the walking we'd done so far.

Day four was also the day that restored my faith in Portuguese food! After another disappointing lunch in a little restaurant called LxBoa, we happened across a buzzing, sunny square through a hidden archway, full of happy-looking diners, sipping cocktails and tucking merrily in to some drool-inspiring dishes. This place was called Aprazivel, and it was great. We booked a table for the evening immediately.

This was the disappointing lunch... chicken pieces full of bones and brown bits, place rice, and plain salad. Even the Sangria wasn't great.

And THIS was Aprazivel. It boasted the best Caiprinihias I've ever tasted I think, and had a fun, modern vibe to it with the outside seating, sunshine, and young clientele.

For starters the three of us shared the assorted cheese platter, which was served with a sweet chutney jam, walnuts, grapes, and a variety of breads and biscuits. It was a simple dish, but tasted amazing! Cheese platters should officially always be served with walnuts.

Main courses were a sordid affair. The three of us plumped for the "American" burger - a mouthwatering beef burger, cooked to perfection, with bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, and salad. It was incredible.

We left very happy bunnies, and got some delicious ice cream from Amorino for the walk home, where we sat and enjoyed some Fado music from our balcony, and said our farewells to our last night in Lisbon...!
